Admission Requirements
Curricular requirements, assessment of personal preparation and language proficiency required for admission to the Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Admission to the Master’s degree
Three requirements to be assessed
To enrol in the Master’s Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering, applicants must meet specific curricular requirements, pass the mandatory assessment of the adequacy of their personal preparation, and provide evidence of written and oral proficiency at a minimum B2 level in at least one European Union language other than Italian.
The criteria are established in accordance with Article 6, paragraph 2, of Ministerial Decree 270/04 and are set out in detail in the Didactic Regulations of the Master’s Degree Programme.
Curricular requirements
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or a suitable qualification obtained abroad.
Automatic fulfilment of curricular requirements
The curricular requirements are automatically met by graduates of the Degree Programmes in Electrical Engineering established at Federico II University under Ministerial Decree 509/99 or Ministerial Decree 270/04.
Applicants holding a degree other than Electrical Engineering from Federico II University, or a degree awarded by another university, must have obtained at least 105 CFU / ECTS distributed among the following groups of academic disciplines.

Assessment by the Teaching Coordination Committee
Any required curricular supplements
The Teaching Coordination Committee, where appropriate through a preliminary assessment panel appointed by the Chair, evaluates each applicant’s qualifications and may recognize all or part of the credits obtained.
Before enrolment
Individual courses
Applicants may enrol in individual courses offered by the University and pass the corresponding examinations before enrolling in the Master’s degree.
Shortened study path
Enrolment in a Bachelor’s degree
Applicants may enrol in a Bachelor’s Degree Programme that grants automatic admission to the Master’s degree, with a study plan that includes the required curricular supplements.
Integrated study plan
Enrolment in the Master’s degree
Applicants may enrol with a study plan that includes the required curricular supplements and may therefore exceed a total of 120 CFU / ECTS.
Adequacy of personal preparation
Mandatory assessment
Only applicants who meet the curricular requirements may proceed to the assessment of their personal preparation. For applicants who obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Federico II University or another Italian university, the assessment consists of an interview covering knowledge in the core academic disciplines of the Degree Programme.

Automatic fulfilment with a weighted average of at least 24/30
Personal preparation is automatically considered adequate when the weighted average of the examinations taken during the Bachelor’s degree is at least 24/30, regardless of the time taken to complete the degree. The average is calculated over all credits awarded with a mark out of 30 and contributing to the degree, using the following formula: the sum of each mark multiplied by its CFU, divided by the total number of CFU.
Language proficiency
B2 English or another EU language
Written and oral proficiency in English, or another European Union language other than Italian, is required at a minimum B2 level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), including terminology related to the discipline.
The Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering offers its students the opportunity to obtain B2 certification during the Bachelor’s degree by attending a course taught by staff from the University Language Centre.
Certificates awarded by external organizations must be submitted to the University Language Centre, which verifies and validates them. Certification is not required for students from countries where English is an official language or for graduates of institutions where courses are taught in English; appropriate supporting documentation must nevertheless be provided.
Resolution of the Teaching Coordination Committee of 5 June 2026
Graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering who have already obtained language certification from the University Language Centre, or whose external certification has already been validated by the Centre, are not required to submit the documentation again when enrolling in the Master’s degree, regardless of when the certification was obtained.
Conditional enrolment
Completion of the requirement during the first year
Students who have never obtained or submitted B2 certification may enrol conditionally in the Master’s degree, provided that they fulfil the requirement during the first year of the programme.
