Before enrolling

Admission Requirements

The self-assessment test is mandatory, but it does not limit the number of students who may enrol.

Admission to the Bachelor’s degree

Self-assessment test (TOLC)

Admission to the Degree Programme requires a mandatory but non-selective self-assessment test. Students who do not pass the test are assigned Additional Learning Requirements, known in Italian as Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi (OFA).

Admission requirements are established by the Engineering Board of the Polytechnic and Basic Sciences School in a coordinated manner for all Degree Programmes in the Engineering Education Area. The test is prepared by the CISIA Interuniversity Consortium according to nationally agreed procedures and consists of multiple-choice questions on Mathematics, Science, Logic and Reading Comprehension.

The test may be taken in person or online, according to the format selected by the student. Several sessions are held between February and October each year.

If your score is below 15

Not passing the test does not prevent enrolment, but results in the assignment of Additional Learning Requirements (OFA). These requirements may be fulfilled in either of the following ways:

  1. attend the preparatory courses organized by the Polytechnic and Basic Sciences School and pass the final test;

    View the schedule
  2. pass the Analisi Matematica I (Mathematical Analysis I) examination as the first examination of the university programme, before proceeding with the other examinations.

Test subjects

  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Logic
  • Reading comprehension

Foreign-language proficiency

B1 English-language test

A B1 English-language test is administered together with the TOLC. Students who pass it are exempt from the first-year English course included in the Course Catalogue and are directly awarded the corresponding 3 CFU / ECTS for foreign-language proficiency.
